Q. What is a Blog?

A. A blog (a blend of the words web log) is akin to an online diary or journal. Another way to look at a blog is that it is a website you can write in without having to know any programming or HTML. Bloggers simply click a button and can type in posts about whatever topic interests them, and they are recorded in chronological order for others to enjoy or comment on. (In some blogging environments, you can write the text in a word processor and paste it in, and in some you can email the text to your blog).

On the Community Network, each individual has the option of creating a blog (it is linked from your profile page, in the links in the left column) that only you can edit or add to. Each Listserv also has a blog that can be shared by all members of the Listserv.

Many of the other Help Files in the Blogs section will answer other questions and help you get started! If you are interested in starting a blog that people outside the Community Network can read, consider using http://www.blogger.com -- a free and simple blog.
